HOW DO YOU PACK YOUR ITEMS?
All items are presented beautifully and ready for gift giving, either on jewellery cards of gift boxed in an eco friendly hand-stamped Kraft box. They are then wrapped carefully in bubble wrap and placed in a tear-proof bubble envelope for protection. Gift packaging may differ slightly from those in the store product photos due to availability.
DO YOU OFFER PERSONALISED MESSAGES?
Yes. If you leave a note at checkout with the details, I will personalise the item with the lucky recipients name along with the special message.
DO YOU MAKE OTHER ITEMS WITH RESIN?
Yes. I'm always happy to work on different projects. I've worked with natural pine resin to create paperweights, decorative plates, ring dishes, frames, key rings etc. Do have a look at some alternative projects I've worked on in the past on my blog. If you have an idea, feel free to contact me with your suggestions.
DO YOU HAVE A SHOP I CAN VISIT?
Currently I only sell online. My home studio is not a shop but a busy (and messy!) workspace filled with potentially harmful materials, large-scale equipment and tools. As I am a small business and work alone, I unfortunately cannot spare the time to open my studio to visitors, as this would impinge on my production hours.
I occasionally take part in markets and shows, where you can see my creations in 'real life'. Stay tuned of any upcoming shows by signing up to my newsletter on my contact page.
I want TO MAKE JEWELLERY, CAN i have information?
I cannot disclose information on my processes or techniques, as I have to protect my business and my brand identity. This is my full time job and not a hobby, please be respectful of that. My unique style of jewellery is something that I have worked very hard at establishing over the years. I like to think my jewellery inspires people to create something innovative and unique. My designs/descriptions/photos should never ever be used as a source for direct copying, it is wholly unethical to do so, and damaging to both my business and your own.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY NEW JEWELLERY?
Avoid storing your piece of jewellery next to a strong heat source or in direct sunlight. This may cause fading over time. Natural pine resin is strong, durable and waterproof. However, it is best to avoid wearing the items in the shower or swimming pool, and to avoid spraying perfume or other alcohol based products next or on the piece, in order to preserve their original condition.
A soft cloth can be used to buff the piece and bring out its original shine. It is advised to do this after each use, to prevent natural body oils from damaging the surface of the resin and keep the piece in best possible condition. The surface is liable to scratch in cases of extreme misuse. Pine resin is an organic substance and should be treated as such.
All earrings and pendants have their posts/bails secured with a layer of eco resin to ensure they will not break away from the base. It is advisable not to tug harshly on chains or bails. Each item should be treated with love and care to ensure its longevity. It is the customers responsibility to care for their Lost Forest treasures appropriately.
Please note that a handmade item does not have a 'machine made' uniform finish. This is a charming inherent character of a handcrafted item and will not impact on the integrity, beauty or quality of the finished piece.
WHAT DOES 'GOLD FILLED' MEAN?
Gold filled wears as well as solid gold when maintained and kept in good condition. A base metal is used for the chain, such as brass or copper. A top layer of solid gold is fused onto the chain using heat and pressure. This permanently bonds the gold to the surface of the chain creating a durable, strong and sparkling effect just like solid gold. No metal allergies are caused by the underlying base metal as the top layer is solid gold and therefore retains its characteristics.
IS Pine RESIN a GOOD choice FOR SENSITIVE SKIN?
Yes. It's the perfect choice as it is a hypoallergenic material and is free from petroleum. Bangles are nickel and lead free and ideal for those who suffer with metal allergies.
CAN I Feature YOUR PHOTOS ON MY BLOG or WEBSITE?
Please contact me before posting as my work can only be shared with permission from myself. Please always credit me, and provide a link to my website.
It is considered unprofessional and bad practice to use my images on a blog or website and remove or crop-out a watermark, or to use images taken from a screenshot. Watermarks are added specifically to protect my images and copyright online. I can also provide photos with more subtle watermarks. Any misuse of my photos, name, or products will be investigated.
CUSTOM ORDER QUESTIONS
DO YOU take CUSTOM orders?
Yes indeed. I love to work on custom creations. You can refer to my Instagram or my blog for some inspiration for your custom project with me. I have a 'library' of botanical stock, feathers and stones, or, you can send me your own preserved inclusions. Do contact me beforehand and I can provide my address. In the meantime you can follow my flower drying guide to ensure your flowers are in optimal condition for using in resin.
HOW CAN I CONTACT YOU?
You can contact me through my contact page. I take great pride in my customer service, and I usually (depending on my schedule) reply within a few hours of receiving an inquiry. I cannot reply to requests for advice on resin, processes or tips, as these are closely guarded Lost Forest secrets.
HOW DO I PREPARE THE FLOWERS BEFORE SENDING?
The day after your wedding or event you can begin the process of drying. I would recommend taking a few blooms from your bouquet (please make sure they are dry and have not been sitting in water), trim off the stalks and dry using the suitable drying method for your flower type. The remainder of your bouquet can be kept in its original bound state and hung upside down in an airing cupboard so it retains its beauty and form.
Once the flowers are dried you can choose the flowers that have retained the best colour. Please choose the best flowers, as this will ensure a better result in the resin.
HOW DO I SEND THE FLOWERS TO YOU?
For pressed flowers, place them between two smooth pieces of card/blotting paper, then place into a zip-lock bag (with a silica sachet if you have one to hand) and pack into a bubble envelope or shallow postal box. If the flowers are in the round, carefully wrap them with some tissue paper and then into a reinforced postal box to prevent any damage during transit. Once received I'll contact you again and we can begin the design process. I will send you a PayPal invoice to purchase your custom order. The process to make the piece(s) would be approximately 2-4 weeks depending on the order volume (excluding shipping time).
WHY DO CUSTOM ITEMS DIFFER IN PRICE?
A custom item will not be the same price as items currently in store. A custom order requires a new comprehensive design process that is unique to the customers specifications. This requires extra hours, creative thought, skill and production to complete a true bespoke piece that will not be repeated again.
HOW DO I MEASURE FOR A BANGLe?
I have created a bangle measurement guide, which enables you to get an accurate diameter and knuckle measurement. I cannot be responsible if the customer provides a wrong measurement.
DO YOUR BANGLES COME IN VARIOUS SIZES?
Each style of bangle listed in store has a fixed diameter, as the molds in which they are formed are set sizes and cannot be adjusted. I do offer a range of diameters in a mixture of fashionable styles to suit various sized wrists.
WILL THE FLOWERS FADE/WILL THE RESIN YELLOW?
The natural resin I use has UV stabilising technology built into its composition. Once the pieces are stored correctly away from strong sunlight and heat, then the inclusions will retain their beautiful colour.
WHAT MATERIALS are used for CHAINS & EARRINGS?
All chains and earring wires are either 14k gold/rose gold filled, 18k yellow gold filled or 925 sterling silver. Earring posts and backings are hypoallergenic stainless steel, which are ideal for sensitive ears. Chains, earring wires and posts can all be cleaned using a soft cloth to keep them in good condition and restore shine. In order to avoid tarnish, please do not store next to plated jewellery.
